Oct 2016 – President’s Message

It’s October and that means many things to me. The return of cool weather, college football, fall foliage, and, for me anyway, time to pay my IISE dues. I have always used my own dues payment as a reminder to tell my team about the importance of getting their dues paid on time. Your dues directly underwrite our chapter programs, and your “head” in our membership headcount is used as a measure of our chapter health. As a result, it is very important to the chapter and your local colleagues that you not let your membership lapse. It’s also important to you. You don’t want to miss an issue of our newsletter or members-only mailing just as that amazing plant tour or important speaker is announced.

In fact, this year my IE team is lobbying to get corporate support for IISE membership. Did you know that there is a corporate membership program? If your organization has even a handful of interested IEs or SEs, you could be eligible for discounted corporate rate dues. Check the newly revamped IISE website for details and contact information.

Have a great October and I hope I’ll see you at our next networking event in Alexandria.

Cheers,
Sean
