Appeal for volunteers for the Engineering Technology Advisory Committee for Northern Virginia Community College

NoVa CC Engineering Technology Advisory Committee needs help

All Hands at SME, IIE and DC Council of Engineers & Architects:

The Engineering Technology Advisory Committee for Northern Virginia Community College met this week for the first time in 3 years, with Deans and staff representing the local campuses, and ONE committee member – me! Of the 20 or so other members, who’ve served on the committee for ten or more years, some are dead, or sick or have Altzheimers, or ailing wives, or just don’t drive anymore, or were otherwise occupied.

This is a pretty sad situation. The committee could really use some new members, especially Civil Engineers to help guide the staff as to industry needs, available jobs and/or skills needed by companies who are hiring, but can’t find people with the skills they need.

If any of you are so inclined and would like to give the benefit of your years of experience to help guide the students at Northern Virginia Community College, please get in touch with Prof. Rob Woodke, the Program Head for Engineering Technology and acting Dean of Engineering at NoVaCC’s Annandale campus at 703-323-4257, or by email to rwoodke@nvcc.edu .

Many thanks for your support,

John Shirley & John Baer
