Three Papers Presented by Chapter Members at CapSci 2010

On Saturday and Sunday, March 27 and 28, 2010, the Washington Academy of Sciences (WAS) and its Affiliated Societies will hold the 4th in its series of biennial pan-Affiliate Conferences, Capital Science 2010 (CapSci 2010).

Chapter member papers submitted and accepted for presentation are:

  • “Does Lean-Six Sigma (LSS) Effort Help Predict the Quality of the Product and Increase Profitability? A Healthcare Industry Study.” Authors: Anand Subramanian (JFAssociates, Inc., Vienna, Va.), Ram R. Bishu (Department of Industrial Engineering, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Lincoln, Neb.), Jeffrey E. Fernandez (JFAssociates, Inc., Vienna, Va.), and Deepak Subramanian (India, Chennai, India).
  • “Virtual Office Ergonomics Evaluation: A Cost Effective Green Office Implementation Method.” Authors: Anil R Kumar, Brandy Ware, and Jeffrey Fernandez (JFAssociates, Inc., Vienna, Va.).
  • “Staffing Model Development.” Author: Neal F. Schmeidler (OMNI Engineering & Technology, Inc., McLean, Va.).

Abstracts for these and many other interesting papers and information about the conference is at http://www.washacadsci.org/capsci10/Index.htm.

The conference will be held in the Conference Facility of the National Science Foundation in Arlington, Va. at the Ballston Metro stop. With many Affiliates participating, the Conference will serve as an umbrella for scientific presentations, seminars, tutorials, and talks. These pan-Affiliate Conferences underline the fact that the Washington, D.C. area is not only the political capital of the country but, in many respects, the nation’s intellectual capital — with several major universities and government laboratories that are the homes of an astonishing number of Nobel laureates.

The WAS believes that showcasing the intellectual muscle of the area helps provide the support needed to continue to build and keep the United States at the forefront of scientific achievement

If you have questions about the conference, feel free to contact Neal Schmeidler at 703-462-5471 or neal@omni-engineering.com.
