Report – Project Linus

On Saturday, September 19, 2015, the IIE National Capital Chapter met at the Shaw Neighborhood Library in Washington, DC. The chapter met to perform its first service project, making no-sew blankets for Project Linus of Howard County, MD.

Project Linus of Howard County is a local chapter of the national non-profit organization Project Linus. Project Linus collects handmade blankets from donors and donor groups to distribute to children newborn to age 18 who are ill, have been injured or have suffered trauma.Project Linus of Howard County, MD serves over 25 hospitals, children homes, and shelters in the Central Maryland area and DC including Johns Hopkins Hospital, St Agnes Hospital, Kennedy-Kreiger, The Children’s Home, Walter Reed Medical, The National Children’s Hospital to name just a few.

On Saturday, eleven chapter members, friends, and family gathered and made 20 large fleece blankets in 3 hours. Both board members and general members participated. Several members who had never attended a meeting before came and were warmly greeted.
