NATS Win the August 11 IIE Scholarship Fundraiser while Sweeping the Phils

On Sunday, August 11, the defending Division champion NATS got the better of the Phils in the fight for second place in this year’s National League East race. Steven Strasburg recorded 27 outs in his 4-hit complete game shutout striking out 10 to complete Washington’s 3-game sweep of Philadelphia 6-0. Washington scored all its runs against Kyle Kendrick, knocking him out of the game in the 5th inning and had 13 hits, all singles. Jason Werth, and part-time second baseman, Steve Lombardozzi, both had 3 hits while Denard Span, Wilson Ramos and Ian Desmond had two hits apiece. The weather was perfect, and the earlier-than-usual 5 PM start eased the Monday morning return to work following the weekend. Too bad not very many ie’s attended.

The chapter sold a total of 21 tickets to this year’s two Scholarship Fundraisers at Nationals games on July 20 and August 11 earning a total of $149 for the Marvin Mundel IIE Scholarship fund based on net revenue resulting from the savings differential between the group rate and the normal single ticket on-line prices and service charges. We had great seats for both games on the 1st base side of the infield between the club deck and the upper deck.
