NATS Lost the July 20 IIE Scholarship Fundraiser while being Swept by LA

The chapter sold 14 tickets to the July 20 NATS game which the Dodgers won in 10 innings 3-1. We had great seats on the 1st base side of the infield between the club deck and the upper deck. The Davey Johnson bobbleheads were gone before most people arrived as it was the 8th largest sellout crowd since Nationals Park opened. While the NATS missed many scoring chances including bases loaded with one out in the 1st inning, Gonzales pitched six scoreless innings setting a career high 11 strike outs and left with a 1-0 lead after 6 innings while his opponent, Zack Greinke, was just one pitch shy of 6 shutout innings. Reliever, Drew Storen, blew the NATS 1-0 lead in the seventh and Stammen lost the game in the 10th. The Dodgers had won their 7th in 9 games and the NATS had lost their 7th in as many.

Hopefully, the defending National League Eastern Division Champs will do better at our second and final 2013 Scholarship Fundraiser on August 11 as the NATS battle the Phils for the 2nd place Eastern Division Consolation “prize.”
